I'm Vinn, I'm a HBO-ICT graduate from the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, specialized in Game Development. I enjoy learning new things and I like sprinkling my creativity into my work. Both technology and art interests me and I love being able to combine the two together. Below are some projects I've worked on over the years.

I was an intern for the research group Smart Education Labs, a research group that focusses primarily on developing technological solutions for the education curriculum. During my internship, I focused on researching and developing possible applications of game theory on their project MindsOn, a webapp that helps young learners practice scientific reasoning with help of diagrams. I designed multiple concepts with help of various design theories and developed two of the more promising concepts into interactive prototypes.
The first prototype is titled Help je Klasgenoot!, translated Help your Classmate! This is a card game that quizzes the user on the knowledge they learned after the completing the MindsOn module. The quiz method follows an ‘open-boek toets’ format, meaning the user has access to the diagram they practiced with, but they get harder questions. The idea is that these questions prompt them to read the diagram in order to get the correct answer. Some cards are generated with a power-up that helps the user achieve their game goal.
You can watch a short demo here.

The second prototype is a gamification concept, designed with the goal to motivate the user positively with their learning experience. The user is asked to help a fake student by correcting their diagram, one they are familiar with. The student acts like a parrot, repeating what the user is doing, giving the user an option to think about their decisions. The student will react accordingly to the student’s performance.

School Group Project Role: Lead Designer, Project Manager, Developer Language(s) Used: C# Engine: Unity 3D
Lab Rats is a game that originated as a part of the Smart Education Lab project. The game is a multiplayer VR escape room where players must solve chemistry-based puzzles in order to find the key to escape. The main goal of the game is to excite high school students about chemistry, using their basis of chemistry knowledge as the foundation of each puzzle in the game. The game trailer can be seen here.
I've primarily designed the levels in this game, taking inspiration from existing science experiments and researching basic science principles. I organized multiple testing sessions using paper prototypes in order to test the puzzle's difficulty and fun.
